For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

The Gala

At this years Gala, we hosted over 400 “champions” who gathered together to be inspired by a common vision. We were all encouraged by the beauty, transformation, and engaging information shared by local experts and ambassadors for the cause. Thanks to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for providing such an elegant space for live music and artistic creations, as well as for preparing home-cooked, savory foods! Special thanks to all the artists who shared their talent and creativity, as well as all the champions who attended, or who were with us in spirit! We truly mean it when we say we could not do this ministry without you.

Prayer Walk & Equpping Conference

This year, we are expanding our signature participation event to include an entire weekend of equipping opportunities! Our Equipping Conference will be held September 18th – 20th, 2015. This weekend will be packed with refreshing worship, engaging micro-events, educational seminars and workshops, and of course, our signature Prayer Walk. If you are interested in learning more about the issues of addiction, trauma, and sex trafficking, and what YOU can do to help stem the tide of these cultural tsunamis, you will not want to miss any part of this weekend. This will be an opportunity for those new to the cause to take first steps of participation, as well as for current champions to become more educated, equipped, and engaged. Keep reading for more information on each facet of this impacting weekend.

Early Bird “Break Every Chain” Worship Event

Thursday, September 17th @ 7:00pm

We want to kick off this equipping weekend right: with a powerful evening of Spirit-led, God-glorifying worship to anchor our hearts in the truth that God is our hope! Join us at Riversong Church (3660 Springfield Jamestown Rd, Springfield, OH 45502) at 7:00pm to lift up the name of Jesus and pray over the issues of childhood sexual abuse, human trafficking, and addiction.

Morning and Night Prayer Walks

Saturday, September 19th at 9:00am and 8:00pm

This 5K is unlike any other – symbolic, heart-warming, challenging, and educational. Participants will start with worship and prayer at The Champion City Vineyard Church (137 E. Main St. Springfield, OH), and then launch into their prayer route to visit locations such as City Hall, the county jail, local hotels and other places where trafficking and addiction are serious issues in our community. This year the route will be slightly different from last, but the mission and style of the event will continue to focus on awareness, prevention, and equipping for those who want to fight sex-trafficking and addiction through hope-filled prayers. You’re welcome to walk as an individual, or as part of a team! For information on being a Team Captain for the prayer walk, e-mail Karen Britton.

While both men AND women are encouraged to participate in the morning walk, The Night Walk is a dedicated time for men to rally around the cause of sex trafficking. Beginning at 8:00pm at Southgate Baptist Church, the prayer focus during this 1 mile walk will be prevention and demand reduction. Contact Stuart Olley (stuartolley@cedarville.edu) for more information on the Men’s Night Walk.

Workshops & Educational Components

Friday and Saturday, September 18th & 19th (12:00pm – 5:oopm)

Over the weekend, we will offer over 18 workshops focused in four main areas:

  • Engaging (Community Outreach)
  • Equipping (Community Development)
  • Employing (Social Enterprise)
  • Empowering (A Comprehensive Approach to Healing and Sustainable Recovery)

These workshops will be held on Friday & Saturday afternoon from noon til 5:00pm. Come and hear from experts in these fields as they share from their respective wells of knowledge and experience. Check back soon for a list of scheduled workshops. Follow this link to get registered for the conference! Contact Amy Willmann or Joy Fagan with questions regarding the workshops.

Church Partnerships

Sunday, September 20th

To round out this weekend of inspiration and equipping, we plan to engage several local churches in hosting a “Safe Harbor Sunday,” or to have a cause-related focus. This could include anything from giving a sermon on a justice-related issue, to taking up a love offering for Safe Harbor, to having a Safe Harbor staff member speak, share a video, ministry materials, Q & A, etc. If your church is interested in partnering with us in this way, please e-mail Pastor Jason Carrier.
